Find your starting point
Use frame measurements, silhouette and the way your current eyewear fits to make a more confident choice.
Read the numbers, then judge the fit as a whole.
Eyewear measurements are useful reference points, but overall comfort depends on several dimensions working together.
Lens width
The horizontal width of one lens, usually measured in millimeters. A larger number generally creates a wider lens area, but frame shape still affects the visual result.
Bridge width
The distance between the lenses at the nose bridge. It can influence how high or low the frame sits and how secure it feels.
Temple length
The length of the arms from the hinge toward the ear. They should sit naturally without forcing the frame forward or creating pressure.
How to compare with a pair you own
Find a comfortable pair
Choose sunglasses or glasses that already feel balanced on your face.
Check the markings
Many frames have measurements printed inside the temple arm, often in a format similar to 52–18–145.
Compare the full profile
Use the numbers together with frame shape and total width. A 52 mm round lens does not feel the same as a 52 mm square lens.

Fit checks after you put the frame on
- The bridge feels secure without excessive pressure.
- The temples sit comfortably without pinching.
- The frame does not constantly slide during normal movement.
- Your eyelashes do not repeatedly touch the lenses.
- The frame looks balanced from the front rather than obviously too narrow or too wide.
